A First-of-it’s-kind Facility! sanmarc_beach_sm

The South Saskatchewan River Whitewater Park & Green Power initiative at the weir in Saskatoon is a first-of-its-kind facility. The project combines a green hydro-electric generating station with a world-class recreational water park.

  • Whitewater rapids course for rafting, tubing, kayaking, fishing, wading, swimming, bird watching and more.
  • Flexible course design will accommodate beginners to serious competitors
  • Shallow areas for wading and passive recreation
  • Design incorporates improved fish habitat and riparian areas
  • Hydro-electric component could generate from 2.8 - 8.4 megawatts
  • Project will revitalize the deteriorating weir and address safety concerns
  • Response to 2007 public consultation process demonstrated over 80 percent public support for the proposal

If you’re in favour of building a world-class recreational water park and green energy solution on one of Canada’s best rivers, don’t sit silently on the sidelines! Make your voice count.
